What is PRP Therapy?PRP injections in East Setauket

PRP therapy is a revolutionary treatment that harnesses the body’s natural healing abilities. It involves concentrating platelets from the patient’s own blood and injecting them into the injured area. These platelets contain growth factors that stimulate tissue regeneration and promote healing.

The PRP Injection Process

The procedure begins with a simple blood draw from the patient. The blood is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components. Under ultrasound guidance, Dr. Harary precisely injects the concentrated PRP into the targeted area, ensuring accurate placement for optimal results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PRP injection therapy?

PRP (bplatelet-rich plasma) injection therapy is a treatment that utilizes the body’s own healing process to promote tissue repair and reduce pain. It involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, processing it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, and then injecting this solution into the area of injury or degeneration. This therapy has gained popularity in areas like East Setauket, Long Island, and beyond for treating conditions such as osteoarthritis and sports-related injuries.

Who is Dr. Mark Harary and what is his expertise?

Dr. Mark Harary is a renowned MD specializing in sports medicine and orthopedic treatments. He is recognized for pioneering PRP injection therapy in the Suffolk County area, particularly in East Setauket. His extensive training and experience allow him to effectively utilize PRP treatments to help patients recover from injuries and improve their quality of life.

How does PRP therapy work?

PRP therapy works by harnessing the healing properties present in platelets and growth factors found in the patient’s own blood. When injected into the injured area, these components stimulate the body’s natural healing process, which can lead to reduced pain and improved function. The injection is often guided by ultrasound to ensure precise placement and effectiveness.

What conditions can be treated with PRP injections?

PRP injections are used to treat a variety of conditions, including acute and chronic injuries such as elbow pain, tendonitis, muscle strains, and osteoarthritis. They are also beneficial for athletes recovering from sports injuries, helping to expedite the healing process and minimize downtime.

Is PRP therapy safe?

Yes, PRP therapy is considered safe as it uses the patient’s own blood, minimizing the risk of allergic reactions or infections. Since PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is derived from the patient’s own body, it significantly reduces the likelihood of adverse side effects. Additionally, PRP therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that has been used for years in various medical fields, including orthopedics, sports medicine, and cosmetic treatments. However, like any medical procedure, it is essential to consult with a qualified healthcare provider to ensure that PRP therapy is the right option for your specific condition and to discuss any potential risks or concerns.
